As a Life Insurance agent, Diabetes and Chronic Disease impacts many potential clients. In this article I am going to discuss Life Insurance and Diabetes. I want to explain what it is, what causes it, and how it can be quickly and easily reversed.
Sobering Statistics: The State of Our Health
As you read these words, you might find yourself wondering about the sad state of our nation’s health. Let’s explore some eye-opening facts that will help you understand the bigger picture:
- A staggering 73% of American adults are either overweight or obese.
- Even more alarmingly, 88% of Americans show signs of metabolic dysfunction, putting them on the path to diabetes.
- Approximately 11.3% of the population (37.3 million people) have diagnosed diabetes.
- An additional 8.5 million people are estimated to have undiagnosed diabetes.
- Perhaps most concerning, about 38% of adult Americans (96 million people) have pre-diabetes.
- Diabetes and obesity increase the risk for other diseases such has heart disease and cancer.
As you absorb these statistics, you might feel a growing sense of concern. If you are reading this, you may have diabetes yourself. But remember, knowledge is power, and understanding the problem is the first step towards finding a solution.
Understanding Diabetes: The Sugar and Insulin Connection
Before we dive deeper into solutions, it’s crucial to understand what diabetes is and how it develops. This knowledge will empower you to make informed decisions about your health and diet.
The Role of Sugar and Insulin
When you consume sugar and carbohydrates, your blood glucose levels rise. It’s important to realize that carbohydrates break down into glucose. White foods are the worst offenders. White foods include: sugar, bread, pasta, rice, and potato. Your body recognizes this spike as potentially harmful – because glucose, in excess, is toxic to your body. To maintain homeostasis (balance), your pancreas releases insulin. Think of insulin as a key that unlocks your cells, allowing glucose to enter.
One of insulin’s primary roles is to signal fat cells to take up glucose from the bloodstream. Once inside the fat cells, this glucose is converted to fat for storage. This process helps reduce blood sugar levels, protecting your body from the damaging effects of excess glucose.
The Path to Insulin Resistance
Imagine constantly exposing your body to high levels of sugar and carbohydrates. It’s important to know that when the fat cells are “full”, they begin to lock to glucose door from the inside. Your pancreas responds by producing more and more insulin because the glucose is still elevated. Over time, your cells, which previously welcomed glucose, start to become less responsive to insulin’s signals.
This is insulin resistance in a nutshell. Your cells have adequate “energy” and begin to block further glucose uptake, becoming unresponsive to the higher levels of insulin in your bloodstream. It’s like shouting at someone who’s gradually going deaf – you have to yell louder and louder to be heard. Diabetes medications, like metformin, only treat the symptom. They don’t cure the underlying disease. The disease will gradually worsen over time.
The Progression to Diabetes
Insulin Resistance, Pre-diabetes and Diabetes are the effects of this prolonged exposure to high levels of glucose and insulin in the blood. Your body’s ability to regulate blood sugar becomes impaired, leading to chronically elevated insulin and glucose levels.
The Weight Loss Conundrum
Here’s a key point that many people miss: As long as insulin levels remain high, your body will always prioritize glucose as a fuel source instead of relying on fat. This creates a frustrating situation where losing weight becomes almost impossible. Why? Because your body is constantly in storage mode, storing fat and burning glucose.
Visualize a lock on your fat cells. High insulin levels keep this lock firmly in place, preventing your body from accessing and burning stored fat. This is why many people find it incredibly challenging to lose weight while eating a high-carb diet, even when they’re reducing calories.
Understanding this process is crucial because it highlights why simply eating less and exercising more often isn’t enough for sustainable weight loss and diabetes prevention or management. The key lies in addressing the root cause: the foods that spike your blood sugar and insulin levels.
The Root Cause: What’s Behind the Obesity and Diabetes Epidemics?
You may be wondering, “How did we get here?” The answer lies on our plates and in our pantries. The culprits behind these health crises are hiding in plain sight. Let’s delve deeper into each of these factors:
- Highly Processed Foods: Processed foods dominate our modern diet, offering convenience at the cost of nutrition. These foods often lack essential nutrients while being calorie-dense. They’re engineered to be hyper-palatable, triggering over consumption and addiction-like behaviors. As you scan your kitchen, you might notice how many items come in boxes or bags, ready to eat with minimal preparation.
- Excessive Consumption of Grains: The modern diet is heavily grain-based, with wheat, corn, and rice forming the foundation of many meals. While whole grains can be part of a healthy diet, the refined grains commonly found in processed foods rapidly convert to sugar in your body. This leads to blood sugar spikes and increased insulin production. Picture your typical breakfast – how often does it revolve around cereal, toast, or other grain-based foods? It’s also important to know that grains are highly inflammatory.
- Added Sugars, Especially High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS): Sugar consumption has skyrocketed in recent decades. HFCS, in particular, has become ubiquitous in processed foods and beverages. Unlike glucose, fructose is metabolized primarily by the liver, leading to increased fat storage and insulin resistance when consumed in excess. As you sip your favorite drink or snack on a ‘low-fat’ treat, consider how much hidden sugar you might be consuming.
- Toxic Seed Oils: It’s important to realize that vegetable oils like soybean, canola, and corn oil are relatively new additions to the human diet. These oils are high in omega-6 fatty acids, which promote inflammation and are shown to cause insulin resistance. They’re also prone to oxidation, potentially causing cellular damage. These oils are found in most processed and restaurant foods. Think about the last time you ate out – chances are, your meal was cooked in or contained seed oils.
It’s Not a Mystery
It’s important to understand that while the medical establishment may seem puzzled, the academic world has been shedding light on this issue for years. Numerous studies have drawn clear connections between diabetes and the consumption of sugar, HFCS, and seed oils. For instance:
- A study published in the journal “Diabetes Care” found that countries with higher availability of HFCS had a 20% higher prevalence of diabetes compared to countries with lower availability.
- Research in the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition” showed that replacing saturated fats with omega-6 rich vegetable oils increased the risk of coronary heart disease and death.
- A meta-analysis in the “British Medical Journal” concluded that higher consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages was associated with a greater incidence of type 2 diabetes.
As you reflect on your own diet, you might start to see how these foods have found their way into your daily meals. But don’t worry – awareness is the first step towards positive change. By understanding these root causes, you’re already on the path to making healthier choices.
Diabetes and Life Insurance: The Path to Reversal
Now, imagine a future where you’ve taken control of your health. The good news is, this future is easily within your reach. The solution is refreshingly simple: if sugars and seed oils caused the problem, eliminating them can fix it. I’ve got news for you: the human body does not need carbohydrates. None. Zero. Nada.
Low-carb, ketogenic, and carnivore diets have shown remarkable success in reversing diabetes. These approaches focus on:
- Avoiding seed oils and fried foods: potato chips, french fries, tortilla chips,
- Eliminating processed foods and sugars: Read the labels!
- Reducing carbohydrate intake: avoid “white foods”,
- Increasing healthy fat consumption: beef, bacon, and butter,
- Prioritizing whole, nutrient-dense foods.
As you visualize yourself embracing these dietary changes, you might already feel a sense of empowerment. Many people have successfully and easily reversed their diabetes and improved their overall health through these methods.
Remember, every journey begins with a single step. By making informed choices about your diet and lifestyle, you’re not just improving your health – you’re also potentially opening doors to better life insurance options. Eat meat. Lots of it.
If you can do only one thing, start by cutting out seed oils. Watch the videos I’ve linked so you understand why seed oils are so toxic. But if you really want to take your health to the next level, cut out all white foods.
Don’t be afraid of animal fats. Humans have been eating meat and especially fatty meat, for millions of years. Grains and vegetables have only been in the diet for the last 12,000 years or so. That, coincidentally, is when the fossil record begins to show evidence of disease in humans. Embrace your heritage!
Conclusion
Improving your health and reversing disease is easy. Just start avoiding the foods that made you sick in the first place. You don’t have a “disease”. You have a glucose toxicity problem from not eating a proper human diet.
It’s super important to realize that this guidance will help with most chronic disease, not just diabetes. That’s because many modern diseases have insulin resistance as their root cause: high blood pressure, athersclerosis, mental disease, cancer, and many more.

My Personal Journey:
I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in Jan, 2021. I was lucky in two ways:
One, I already had plenty of life insurance. I won’t be able to get any more now with an “incurable” cancer.
Second, the protocol for this disease is “Watch and Wait”. That means my Hematologist closely monitors my blood and when the disease gets bad enough, they begin treatment. That gives me plenty of time for research alternative treatments. I sought out a homeopathic doctor who pointed me toward the keto diet. I read many books on Keto and Cancer and listened to literally thousands of hours of podcasts. There is a wealth of information available if you know where to look. You’ve got to get past the information they want you to find.
Researching keto diets for cancer lead me to intermittent fasting and then to the Carnivore Diet. I have to tell you, I felt great when I went from a crappy standard american diet to keto. But when I went from keto to Carnivore, I felt absolutely amazing. I experienced many other health improvements almost immediately. I had been taking Omeprazole for 20 years. 1 month eating a proper human diet and I didn’t need it any more. My GERD vanished. As a runner, I always had sore knees and ankles. Gone. My complexion improved. You can see the improvement in my video thumbnail images. Look at me in my earliest videos (pre-diagnosis) compared to me a year later in 2022. I used to have tons of allergies: gone. Man boobs: gone. Acne: gone. These health improvement told me I was on the right track.
